COMPUTER TIPS

#1

  1. To speed up your computer, delete unnecessary files in your hard drive. Do a once a month Maintenance Job  by doing the following:

1.1.-Defrag  (data clusters will be grouped together after defrag)

How to:  Click on Start then Accessories then System tools, then Defrag.  If it is your  first time to do this, it will take a longer time (maybe overnight) especially if you have a large hard drive (10 gig or higher).  But if you do this at least once a month, the defrag job will be much shorter (about an hour or so).   Make sure you disable your Screen Saver when you do a defrag.

1.2. Delete Temporary Internet Files

How to : Click Start then Settings then Control Panel then Internet Options Icon then  Delete  Temp Files.

1.3  Clean up your Recycle Bin

How to: Click on the Recycle Bin Icon on your Desktop, Click Edit on the Menu Bar (topmost bar), click select all, click delete.

1.4  Clean up your E-Mail Trash

How to:  Go to your Mail, Click Trash, click select all, then click delete.

1.5  Send to your Recycle Bin all files which you  no`longer need..

How to:   Click My Documents (on your Desktop), right click on the file, then delete. Go to 1.3 above for deleting files in the Recycle Bin.
