Computer
Tips #02 8/28/02
1.
Create a shortcut of programs ( e.g. Microsoft
Word) you
always use by putting it on your desktop. Click
Start, go to Programs, then select MS-Word by
pressing the left button of your mouse (dont
release it) then point and drag it to your
desktop.
2. If you have so many Program
Icons (Icons
for Scanner, Printer, CD Burner, Word, Exce,
Photo Suite, etc) which you seldom use but are
displayed on your desktop, bring them back to
your Program Files. Right Click Start,
Click Explore, go to your Program Files, minimize
your window (click on the minimize box located at
the top right of your desktop), then go to your
desktop, point at the program icon you want to
move, press left button of your mouse (do not
release) then drag it to your program window.
3. Back up your files in case your
hard disc will go pffffft. Click start, programs,
accessories, then system tools. Click on the Back
up program.
4. Create a start up
disk for
future use in case you will have trouble starting
your computer. Click Start, Click Settings, Click
Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs then go
to Create Disk.
5. Keep all your CD ROM
copies of all
softwares you have installed in your hard disk
(such as CD ROM for Printers, Scanners, Photo
Suite, CD Burner, etc.) You will need these CDs
in the future and they will become very handy if
you keep them in a place where you can easily
retrieve.
